As a queer, Transgender man, I know how challenging it can be to do this work as a person with a marginalized identity. It's very important to me to help other queer and Trans artists in their training and navigation of this industry. If you are looking for a coach and mentor that uplifts and champions your identity, let's connect! You, your voice, and your artistry are essential to this work!

I am an LA-based actor and coach. I am proud to be classically-trained with my MFA in Acting from the University of California San Diego, where I was the recipient of The San Diego Fellowship. At UCSD, I taught Intro to Acting and Public Speaking at the undergraduate level for 2 years, both in-person and navigating the pandemic with virtual teaching. I am proud to have received my graduate level training as an out queer, Transgender man. It is a privilege that not many folks from the Trans community get, and I am passionate about helping all students navigate BFA and MFA applications and auditions.
In my career, I have worked across regional theater, film, commercial, and voice over. Some favorite credits include SELAH AND THE SPADES on Amazon Prime, directed by Tayarisha Poe, where I worked opposite Jesse Williams and Jharrel Jerome. I also recently originated the role of GURU in MJ Kaufman’s WILD PRIDE, for the sold out and 2022 Drama Desk Award winning NYC run of SEVEN DEADLY SINS. In this original production, I was directed by Tony, Emmy, and Drama Desk award nominated director Moisés Kaufman.
As a private coach, I have worked with a wide variety of students, from professionals to high school level students applying to BFA programs. I have supported students with auditions, MFA prep, dialects, voice over work, poetry reading, and more. I love working with non-actors too, from poets to a Chief Financial Officer in the non-profit realm! I really value meeting every student where they're at and supporting their unique voice and journey! There is never one way of approaching the work that will speak to every person - your authentic self if the most important thing and the place we always begin.

“Cody is an absolutely incredible Coach! He is extremely thorough, patient, and a great teacher. He knows exactly how to break down complicated dialects and teach them in bite size, easy to understand sections. I have been doing dialect coaching with Cody and he creates detailed lesson plans for each dialect, along with resources I can use outside of class and breakdowns of individual sounds within each dialect!
He learns about his students and focuses on creating learning plans that work best for them, and he is very flexible and kind when it comes to scheduling sessions!
His rates are VERY affordable given how much time and care he puts into his lessons, and he is always willing to answer questions between sessions if they come up! I can’t recommend his coaching enough!
If you want to learn dialects or learn anything about acting from a seasoned pro - look no further!”

“Cody combines high-level technical skills with a deep sensitivity to your needs. Just one session helped me to see my art in new ways and gave me tools I will be able to use on my own. But even beyond that, his presence is a profoundly human gift. He creates a space in which you are seen and supported in being vulnerable and taking risks even as he helps you locate areas for growth. As someone who hires teachers, I wish I could fill my school with teachers like him!”
— Emma Wynn, Poet & Head of the Department of Humanities & Social Sciences, Instructor in Philosophy, Religious Studies, and History, The Hotchkiss School
